Fees
There are no fixed rates, and there is a reason
Legal advice and court representation vary widely with the complexity of the matter. The same kind of lawsuit can be settled at one hearing or drag on for two years, and charging the same in both cases would be unfair to someone.
That is why we do not publish a closed fee schedule. What we can publish is how we arrive at the figure, which is what helps you know what to expect.
How fees are set
First, a consultation. It can be in person, by phone or by video call. We ask you a series of questions and, depending on the case, ask for some documents. From that comes the essential: whether you have a case, which route makes sense and how complex it looks.
The consultation costs CLP 35,000, credited in full against our fees if you decide to hire us. In other words, if we go ahead, the consultation cost you nothing; if you decide not to, you paid for a professional opinion on your situation, which is exactly what you came for.
Then, a written fee proposal. We assess the case and send you a written proposal that considers three things: the complexity of the matter, the hours it is likely to require, and your financial situation. It includes the payment terms and instalments that apply.
And, if we agree, a contract. We sign a fee agreement and carry out the engagement on the terms agreed there. Nothing is left as a verbal promise.
